Department of Electrical & Electronics

Prof. Pradeep Khanna

Head

The College has started the branch of Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the session 2004-2005. This course is at present run by Private institutions only and the total intake capacity in M.P.State is about 420 Nos. This course, which consists of combination of two independent branches of Engineering, is devised by keeping in view the present requirement and to produce Engineers having technical proficiency in both the fields.

The course content has been designed with emphasis on Engineering Materials, Magnetic Materials, Dielectrics, Semi-conductors, I.C.Fabrication, Electromagnetic waves, Power Electronics Devices, SCRS, Transistor Technology and problems related with them. Operation and analysis of rectifiers with their performance characteristics,Voltage Control and application of invertors, Principles and analysis of chopper circuits, Voltage regulators and Multiphase Cycloconvertors.

Computer Network, ISDN Systems, Architectures and Network Management, Networking Equipments and monitoring tools. Digital Signal Processing, Discrete Fourier Series, I.IR & FIR Digital Filters. Thus, this course prepares a student to work in research, industrial environment, corporate sectors, design and power sectors efficiently.

1 Electrical Machine Lab Electrical Machine-I This lab consist of number of machines like d.c. motors, shunt motors, d.c. generators, induction motors, three phase transformers, three phase alternators etc. on which students of second and third year perform experiments related to topics taught in theory.
Electrical Machine-II
2 Elec. Measurement & Instru.Lab Elec. Measurement & Instru. This lab consists of experiments related to measurement like Owens bridge, Wheatstone bridge, Kelvin’s double bridge, RTD, thermocouple, thermistor, etc.
3 Basic Electrical Engg.Lab Basic Electrical Engg. It is common to all engineering students of first year to understand them about the basic concepts of generations of electricity, transmission and its distribution. In this lab students of first year perform experiments related to topics taught in theory like superposition theorem, nortons theorem, thevenin’s theorem, open circuit and short circuit test of single phase transformers, etc.
4 Network Analysis Lab Network Analysis  This lab consists of experiments related to topics covered in Network analysis & synthesis.
5 Power System Lab Power System-I To see firsthand apparatus that we will be studying in this course and learn about their
role in operation  of power systems.
Power System-II
6 Power Electronics Lab Power Electronics  This lab consists of experimental setups on which students of third year perform experiments related to topics studied in power electronics like half bridge rectifier, full bridge rectifier, half wave converter, full wave converter, inverter and as simulation experiments performed by Power Simulation software.
Electrical Drive
7 Control System Lab Control System This lab consists of experiments performed on control system like position controller.
8 Electrical Computer Lab Computer aided power system This lab basically consists of about 20 computers on which various simulation softwares like Multisim, PSIM, Dapper, LabView and MATLAB have been installed. These softwares are being used by the students of second, third and final year students for lab as well as project work.
Simulation lab
Matlab
9 Switchgear and Protection Lab Switchgear and Protection This lab consists of different relays like Differential relay, Overcurrent relay, Thermal relay, Instantaneous overcurrent relay, single line to ground fault analysis, three phase to ground fault analysis on which students of final year perform experiments related to topics studied in power system.
10 Electronics Lab EDC-I This lab basically consists of electronic devices and their characteristics, applications can be studied. Using these devices the small electronic circuits can be constructed and checked. In order to introduce the students with basic components of electronics this lab is furnished with advanced CROs, function generators and digital multimeters. Students can perform practical on P-N junction diode, Zener Diode, rectifiers and filters, transistor biasing and their characteristics in different modes, RC coupled amplifiers and FETs.
